HARVEST INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL
DEFOREST, WI
DeForest Area School District
CLIENT: Eppstein Uhen Architects
The 205,000 square-foot school opened in 2021 serves over 400 students in grades 4-6. Its interior design is based on three local habitats: river, prairie, and forest.
Wayfinding signage for each learning pod (grade level) features that habitat's color and native flora and fauna. Common areas combine colors and imagery from each of the three habitats into one cohesive patchwork. A teaching graphic educates students about the building's sustainable energy features like rooftop solar panels and the geothermal heating and cooling system.
